Passed away on June 29, 2025
Preston James "Jamie" West, 51, died peacefully in Tampa, FL, on June 29, 2025, after a long illness, with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla G. West, and her children, Natalia (child Edmund) and Ian of Puerto Rico, and Jamie's children, Deanna West and Caleb West, both of Texas.
He was the son of Preston Rick West and Deborah Crosby West. Jamie leaves behind his sisters, Laura West Strickland (husband Stephen; children Logan, Blake, Landin, and Brady) and Elizabeth West Kuhns (husband Christopher; children McKinzi, Liam, and Denver), and brother, Charles "Charlie" Anthony West (wife Alyssa; children Jack, Rhett, and Alice). He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Preston MacSweaney, 93, and Agnes Patrick West, 88, of Savannah. Jamie was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Preston Hughlon and Margaret Harvey Crosby. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In his youth, Jamie was an acclaimed trick bike rider who performed and won riding championships. He was also a member of the Mayfair Swim Team and was a pioneer of homeschooling in the state of Georgia.
Jamie loved golf and was a lifetime member of the PGA. He worked as a manager at prestigious golf clubs throughout the country, notably at the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort in Savannah and the Rio Mar Country Club in Puerto Rico.
His sweet and innocent spirit led strangers to love him as a true friend.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held in Groveland Cemetery in Bryan County.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest you consider making a donation in Jamie's memory to Corinth Baptist Church, 296 Corinth Church Road, Springfield, GA 31329.
